Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee chair, Jussi Halla-aho (Finns), tweeted on Tuesday that during his week-long trip to Ukraine, he had the idea to buy a destroyed Russian tank and erect it as a monument near the Russian embassy in Helsinki.
The former chair of the Finns Party said that the tank could be transported from Ukraine to Finland, adding that he had already discussed the matter in Ukraine and saw no obstacles to the project.
"I think it would be a good statement in favour of the defensive struggle in Ukraine and against Russia's war of aggression," he told Yle, further noting that the project was "a question of political will and legislative readiness on the part of the host country."
Poland and the Czech Republic have both publicly displayed Russian tanks destroyed in Ukraine, Halla-aho added.
Halla-aho recently visited Ukraine alongside Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian foreign affairs committee members, during which the group met representatives from the Ukrainian administration, the media, civil society, as well as ordinary civilians.
