Increased Road Traffic Control

More speed controls and breathalyzer tests are planned over the next few years as part of a traffic supervision programme.

In addition to extra breathalyzer checks, spot drug tests will also be carried out.

Fixed automatic camera speed controls will be extended to 1,600 kilometres of highway. Twenty mobile units are earmarked for urban use.

Automatic cameras can be used to help police investigations. Accident black spots will be primarily targeted.

Costs for the joint plan drawn up by the Ministry's of the Interior and Communications amount to over 12 million euros over the next three years.
