Drownings claimed 21 lives over the past two weeks.

Fifty-nine men and seven women have drowned this summer.

The Finnish Association for Swimming Instruction and Life Saving says simple precautions could have prevented the majority of these unnecessary deaths.

The association advises recreational boaters to take care of their passengers by providing life belts and ensuring that no alcoholic beverages are consumed on board.
