Forestry Sector Leads Finnish Exports To Arab League Countries

Finnish exports to Arab League member states rose to 1.4 billion euros last year, or slightly more than in 2009. The Forestry sector’s share of exports was more than 40 percent. The largest part of this was composed of sawn timber.

The Arab league members Finland exported most to were Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Imports came principally from Morocco, Qatar and Egypt.

Trade between Finland and Arab League countries is fairly small. Last year just three percent of Finnish exports went to Arab League countries, while around half a percent of imports came from the region.

The Arab League was founded in 1945 and now has 22 member countries.
