Finland and Russia agree deal on 3G in border areas

Finland has reached agreement with its eastern neighbour on co-ordinating use of the 900Mhz band in mobile communications. The agreement allows for the construction of 3G networks in border areas.

The group of Finnish and Russian representatives also announced that negotiations on the wholesale prices paid for roaming services are ongoing. The maximum price paid in EU countries will be used as a reference point.

The meeting of the Finnish-Russian working group on communications and information technology concluded in Helsinki on Tuesday. They will reconvene at the start of next year.
