Nordic data protection agencies ask Facebook about privacy policy, practice

The Data Protection Ombudsmen of four Nordic countries want to know how Facebook protects personal privacy.

The ombudsmen sent Facebook 45 brief questions concerning issues of personal security, how outsiders are able to find names and addresses of people, and what happens to photos once they are uploaded to the wildly popular social network.

One of the questions asks what happens behind the scenes when someone "likes" something via the popular website.

Facebook, which recently announced that it has 750 million users worldwide, has until the end of August to answer the questions.

Each response, according to the ombudsmen, should be as detailed as possible but only three to four sentences long.

The ombudsmen represent Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
