The 2010 report finds that humans’ demand on natural resources has doubled since 1966. Today, people are using the equivalent resources of 1.5 planets to support activities.

“The diversity of species is declining at an alarming rate, by some 30 percent on average. However this figure is 60 percent in the tropics in comparison to what it was in 1970,” says Liisa Rohweder, CEO at WWF Finland.

The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Denmark, the United States and Belgium have the greatest ecological footprints, according to the report.
