The town of Nokia is still waiting for the full results of efforts to eliminate the contamination from its municipal water system.
Meanwhile, a decision on lifting restrictions on the use of water has been deferred. The chlorine level in the area where intense chlorination was implemented to purify the system remains high, and daily running of water should be continued.
Decisions on further measures to be taken were expected already on Monday. Now the possible dismantling of restrictions on using water will be announced separately.
Analysis of water samples has been delayed by a shortage of resources. There is only two water laboratories capable of the necessary analysis - at the University of Helsinki and at the National Public Health Institute.
Although it is more than two months since treated sewage seeped into the municipal water supply, more than 10,000 Nokia residents are still either boiling their drinking water or bringing pure water in from outside.
