Finland got off to a good start in their World Bandy Championship third place play-off, but in the end the Kazakhs proved too strong for Finland in Irkutsk, western Siberia.

At half-time the Finns led 2-0 through goals from Sami Laakkonen and Samuli Helavuori, but after the break Kazakhstan raced into a 3-2 lead.

Although Antti Ekman equalised for Finland in the 69 minute, they could not find a way back and Kazakhstan made it 5-3 through goals from Alexander Nasanov and Rauan Issaljev.

Finland last won a medal in 2011, when they took silver. Kazakhstan have now won bronze three times in a row, beating Finland in the third place playoff on each occasion.
