Motivation was high for the Finns as they looked to ensure Selänne went out on a high note. They were not disappointed, as the team took a 2-0 lead in the second period.

Selänne chipped in with two goals as the lead stretched to 5-0 against a lacklustre US team. Tuukka Rask, back in the Finnish goal after missing the semi final loss to Sweden with flu, saved 27 shots including two Patrick Kane penalties to earn his clean sheet.
