Mikko Ilonen won his biggest tournament yet on Sunday, taking the World Match Play Championship in London. He beat Swedish opponent Henrik Stenson in the final to take home the 650,000 euro first prize.

It follows a solid year for Ilonen, in which he came second in the Qatar leg of the European PGA tour, won the Irish Open and finished seventh in the US PGA Championship.

Altogether this year Ilonen has earned 1.8 million euros in prize money. He is also likely to rise in the world rankings from his current 52 spot into the top 50. That would guarantee participation in the biggest tournaments of 2015.
