Centre Party Chair Juha Sipilä proposes paying businesses one-off compensations for maternity leaves.

Writing in his blog, Sipilä suggests that young women’s employers be paid for every employee that goes on maternity leave with a sum of 2,500 euros.

The 125 million euros that this would cost would be raised from all employees and employers, with the full sum distributed back to companies that employ young women, Sipilä writes.

Raising the needed funds would also require increasing health insurance payments, according to the Centre Party leader.
