Finland joins EU Foreign Ministers to discuss war in Syria

Finland's Foreign Minister Timo Soini joined his counterparts in Luxembourg on Monday for a meeting of EU Foreign Ministers to discuss the war in Syria. EU members such as France and Germany want the union to consider implementing new sanctions against Russia for its role in the war.

Ongoing Russian airstrikes on Aleppo have increased pressure on EU members EU to address the situation in Syria.

In the lead-up to the Foreign Ministers meeting, Britain, France and Germany announced that they want the EU to condemn Russia's air campaign in Syria and to pave the way for new sanctions against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad.  

EU Foreign Ministers, including Finland's Foreign Minister Timo Soini, are meeting in Luxembourg on Monday to discuss the latest developments in war in Syria.
