Known for its eye-catching kitchen and gardening products, Finnish consumer brand Fiskars announced Thursday that it plans to restructure its operations to reduce redundancies. In effect the process will see the elimination of some 130 jobs globally.

Fiskars currently employs more than 9,000 workers worldwide and has operations in 32 countries.

In Finland, the job cuts will see 32 positions scrapped from sales, marketing and support operations, according to marketing director Maija Taimi.

The job reductions will take place next year and will not affect production and distribution centre units. The company said that the goal of the cost-reduction programme is to reduce annual costs by 14 million euros starting in 2018.

The restructuring will also see Fiskars organise the company into two business units starting in 2017.

The new Living unit will include flatware and kitchenware brands Iittala, Rörstrand, Royal Copenhagen, Waterford, Wedgwood and Royal Albert.

The Functional unit will include home and garden tool brands Fiskars, Gerber and Gilmour.
