Finnair plans to recruit 350 new flight attendants and stewards within the next year. It says it also plans to begin hiring pilots next autumn.
"Finnair is in a strong growth stage, so we are continuing with recruitment that is significant in terms of Finnair and even of Finland," said Finnair's senior VP for human resources, Eija Hakakari, in a press release.
She notes that the national carrier has hired about 1,000 employees over the past couple of years, and will need to do so in the coming years due to demand.
Hakakari says the airline is accepting applications for full-time and part-time positions on an open, rolling basis. It will begin basic training for new cabin crew in September.
North American traffic up by more than half
Also on Tuesday Finnair announced that its traffic rose by 21.3 percent in April, as measured in revenue passenger kilometres. On its Asian routes, traffic was up by 19.5 percent compared to a year earlier. North American traffic was up by 51.7 percent, thanks to the April opening of a seasonal route between Chicago and Helsinki.
