Finland coach Markku Kanerva made 213,000 euros in 2022, according to the latest tax data release, making him the best-paid football coach in Finland, according to the tax data released on Wednesday.
Kanerva's income did not approach that made by his Swedish and Norwegian counterparts, however.
Sweden coach Janne Andersson made 4,420,300 Swedish kronor in 2022, equal to around 377,747 euros at exchange rates on 8 November 2023.
Norway's men's football coach Stolle Solbakken had a basic salary of 6 million kronor in 2022, some 500,000 euros at today's exchange rates.
Solbakken is also due a five-million kronor bonus if he leads his team to a major tournament.
Kanerva's income dipped from the 260,661 euros he made in 2021, when he led Finland to the Euro 2020 tournament.
In ice hockey, Finland's men's national team coach Jukka Jalonen made some 386,000 euros. He won Olympic gold in the Beijing Olympics early in 2022, so his number includes some bonuses related to that achievement.
HJK midfielder Perparim Hetemaj was one of the top-earning Veikkausliiga footballers in 2022, making a total of 117,000 euros. Some 85,000 euros of that was earned income.
Boxer Robert Helenius made 357,266 euros in 2022. His biggest fight of the year came in October 2022 when he was knocked out in the first round by Deontay Wilder.
