Chamber Music Series: Music for Kings and Princes

The programme for this Sunday recital takes us straight to the courts of the French Sun King and Queen Charlotte of England. Violist Antoine Forqueray and harpsichordist Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre were still only child stars when they caught the eye of Louis XIV, and both would enjoy a long, successful career at the French court. The path of German violist Carl Friedrich Abel led him from Dresden to the English court, where he served Queen Charlotte as a chamber musician.
