Abstract

1. An arrangement for representing the content of number disc counters in the form of electrical signals, comprising optical markings (16) disposed on the peripheral surface of at least one number disc (11; 12; 13; 21; 23; 25) and a photoelectric sensing means (17) for sensing the markings (16), the sensing means including a light source (18) and light receivers (19), characterised in that associated with each number of the number disc (11; 12; 13; 21; 23; 25) is a single individual marking (16) in the form of a reflection phase diffraction grating or reflection phase hologram for modifying the ray path of the sensing means (17) by optical diffraction, and that each light receiver (19) is receptive of a narrow light beam from the light diffracted at the respective marking (16) lit.
