Abstract

The rotary-drum type drier has three coaxial tubes in which the products to be dried circulate in succession and through which a current of hot gas passes, typically produced by a burner flame. The hot gas generation furnace has a combustion chamber large enough to allow it to be permanently lined with bricks of low alumina content. At the chamber outlet is a narrowed throat ensuring complete homogeneity of the hot emergent gases. The air drawn in from the outside to supply the furnace can be passed through a passage above the combustion chamber forming the furnace vault. This both cools the vault and heats the combustion air.
