Abstract
Sintered tubing of a metal such as copper is produced from a powder mixture comprising metal particles substantially all of which are minus 100 mesh A.S.T.M. with more than 50% and up to 70% of minus 325 mesh and with an average particle size of not less than 10 microns, and a lubricating material such as lithium stearate. Part of the copper powder e.g. 10-20% is blended with the lithium stearate by passing through vibrating screens, the mixture then being added to the remainder of the copper and mixed in the normal way. The mixture is compacted, presintered at 1200 DEG F. in cracked ammonia and then sintered. The sintered compact is then extruded to form tubes. Specification 1,005,180 is referred to.
