Abstract

1,105,497. Diaphragm pumps. ZYMA S. A. June 22, 1965 [June 22, 1964], No. 26460/65. Heading F1A. An apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid such as liquid soap, comprises a member 5 pivoted on a bracket 1 and having a measuring chamber 6 communicating with the neck of a container 4 and with a dispensing nozzle 9, means 14, 15 being provided for discharging the measured quantity from the chamber. The measuring chamber 6 is provided with a non- return inlet valve 13 and with outlet valve member 19 adapted to co-operate with a tapered member 21, the member 19 being loaded to the closed position shown by a spring 20. A diaphragm 14 is located in the chamber and adapted to be extended by pressurized air fed through a pipe 18. In operation, the member 5 is pivoted into a position in which a bottle may be screwed, in its upright position, into the member, the bottle, which may be of plastic material, then being swung to the inverted position so that an air vent needle 11 pierces the bottle. Liquid then drains into the chamber 6 and upon applying pressure to the diaphragm 14 a measured quantity is forced through the outlet valve, the latter springing back to the closed position immediately after the dispensing operation in order to prevent drips. The bracket is held on a wall by means of suction pads 2, 3.
