Abstract

1,133,992. Resistance heating elements. R. Y. BROWN. 2 Feb., 1966 [1 Jan., 1965], No. 27117/64. Heading H5H. [Also in Division B3] A heater element comprises a length of wire 10 coiled into a series of generally elliptical loops mounted on a core member 12 with the ends of the loops collectively defining approximate helices and enclosed in a tube 11. A conductor 13 extending through the core 12 enables connection to both ends of the wire 10 to be effected at one end of the element. The element may form part of a fire-lighter, air to be heated being passed through the tube 11 and being deflected by the wire coil to prevent the formation of cold air layers. A tool for coiling the wire is described (see Division B3).
