Abstract

1,215,737. Hip joints. TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TRAVMATOLOGII I ORTOPEDII. 4 July, 1968, No. 31897/68. Heading A5R. An artificial hip joint comprises an acetabulum part 1 articulated to a femoral part 2, 3, 4, the femoral part having a head portion 2, a curved neck portion 3 and an intra-osseous portion 4, there being an enlargement 5 at the junction of the neck portion and the intraosseous portion. As shown, for securing the joint to the patient, the acetabulum is provided with projections 10, the enlargement 5 may receive a pin 7, and the intra-osseus portion is provided with apertures (not shown) and with a washer 8 secured to an apertured bush 9. The bearing surface of the acetabulum part is provided by a bush 11.
