Overlap joints with packing at base or mouth of socket.-In hose couplings and the like, loss of the rubber or leather packing washer is prevented by reducing the diameter of part of the spigot extension 5 of the known form of coupling member 1, Fig. 1, the washer 9 being forced over the extremity 8 which enters the tap 6. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled) in which the washer is sprung into a recessed part 13 of larger diameter than the screw-threaded part 12. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2394/98, 21333/00, 16086/04, 6664/08, and 117,789.
