Abstract
1447035 Conveying solids in liquid SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 3 Sept 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 35868/72 Heading F1R Solid material is hydraulically transported through a cylindrical pipeline in the form of cylindrical capsules each comprising a compact mass of particles which is enclosed in a binding material, the capsules being dimensioned to have a small annular clearance between them and the pipeline wall. The binder may be solid at ambient temperature and fluid at elevated temperatures and the capsules may be produced as a continuous process. The transporting liquid may comprise two immiscible components of different density one of which is greater than the density of the capsules.
