Abstract

1451308 Random blended fibre web formers RANDO MACHINE CORP 24 June 1975 [12 July 1974] 26827/75 Headings D1F and D1N In a random fibre web former a lickerin is fed with long and short fibres over separate feed plates 30 and 72 respectively, means being provided to keep the short fibers in close proximity to the lickerin in transit between the feed plates, and an air stream being provided to aid doffing of the combined fibers. A foraminous screen 206 provides the forming surface and air sucked through it is recirculated to provide the said doffing air stream. Feed rollers cooperate with the feed plates to advance fibers to the lickerin. As shown in Fig. 5 a double lickerin arrangement is employed with central mixing chamber 320 into which an air flow from above enters on respective sides of a divider 324 thus doffing the combined fibers from the respective lickerins. An adjustable flap 358" is provided to gauge the thickness of the formed web.
