Abstract
288,710. Bowick, J. R., and Bowick, J. M. Jan. 11, 1927. Incrustation, preventing and removing.-An apparatus of the kind described in Specification 253,194 for preparing and introducing disincrustants into steam boilers comprises a vessel a supported by an inlet pipe b extending a little below the boiler water level, and an outlet pipe c reaching to the bottom of the boiler. A horizontal partition e is provided, and a baffle g having an opening h extends downwards to a grid i. A substance capable of forming an extract is placed in the chamber l which is supplied with water through a pipe q from the chamber a. The extract passes through a pipe s and sight glass t to the pipe c leading to the boiler. The baffle g causes sediment carried from the pipe b to be deposited, and such sediment collects in a sump j. In modifications, the chamber l may be at a distance from the vessel a, or the disincrustant may be prepared in a separate vessel and fed as a liquid to the chamber l, Fig. 1.
