Abstract
312,240. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Turner, H. W.). May 22, 1928, [Convention date]. Insulation.-The armature coils of motors for railway-trucks, mills &c. are secured by embedding them in a plaster insulating-composition, a suitable composition consisting of 60 per cent asphaltum and 40 per cent soapstone. The windings are laid in the slots 14, layers of winding alternating with layers of composition, and the ends of the windings are packed in composition in the spaces between the armature core of a fan 17 at one end and the commutator 16 at the other. The whole is secured by wire bindings 21, 22. The composition is then hardened by baking. The coils may be of wire treated as described in Specification 179,460, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.].
