Abstract

321,933. Monnot, J. F. May 19, 1928. Compressing and distributing air for uses other than propulsion.-The exhaust manifold 3 is connected through a valve 5 and water-jacketed chambers 4, 9 to a turbine 21 which drives an air-compressor 22 and water pump 23. Valved injection nozzles 6, 10, 18 introduce compressed air, compressed air and oil, and water, respectively into the chambers, from which a. mixture of steam and gas issues to drive the turbine. The compressor 20 supplies a reservoir 26 from which pipes pass to the nozzles 6, 10 and to appliances such as the horn, windscreen wiper, engine-starter, tyre inflator, &c. In practice boxlike parts of the frame longitudinals form the reservoir 26. The pump 23 maintains a circulation through a tank 41, radiator 38 and waterjackets 15.
