Abstract

397,252. Golf clubs. DOVER, H. W., Park Road, St. James', Northampton. April 30,1932, No. 12516. [Class 132 (ii).] The head a of a golf club is formed of cellulose acetate material and the shank is tapered or otherwise reduced quickly to receive a conical sleeve e of flexible material such as celluloid which is fitted over the reduced part and cemented or otherwise secured thereto. The sleeve fits loosely on the shaft b and as shown in Fig. 3 is secured to the shank by screwing and cementing. The material of the head is moulded around the shaft end and around a sole plate f, Fig. 1, projections g, m on which serve rigidly to secure it to the head. The weight of the head is reduced by forming it with a cavity j that may be filled with light material or closed by a screwed plug k. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 5, the sole plate is made integral with a frame o and sighting rib p, an ivory face-plate n being enclosed in the frame.
