Abstract

401,458. Pipe couplings. AKTIESELSKABET FISKER & NIELSEN, and FISKER, P. A., 30, Peder Bangsvej, Copenhagen. Aug. 22, 1932, No. 23504. [Class 99 (i).] A device, for joining a hose to the casing, dust container, &c. of a vacuum cleaner, comprises an aperture 2 in the wall 1 of the casing and a recessed portion 3 of spherical contour surrounding the aperture and adapted to be engaged by a correspondingly shaped member 5 secured to the nipple 4 of the hose, the member 5 being pressed against the recess 3 by a spring 11 disposed between a groove 12 in the member 5 and an inturned flange 10 on a sleeve 8 which is provided at its other end with cam-like projections adapted to make a bayonet joint connection with a plate 17 secured to the wall 1. A screw joint may replace the bayonet joint and conical or plane surfaces the spherical ones.
