Abstract

408,926. Centrifugal machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleming- gatan, Stockholm. July 13, 1932, No. 19805. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 15, 1932]. [Class 23.] A centrifugal bowl 1 has peripheral openings 7 for the discharge of separated heavy matters, the discharge being assisted by a flushing liquid supplied through the spindle 8 and the channels 5. Elements 17 of wire gauze, perforated sheet iron, or trellis are arranged in front of the openings 7 to prevent eddy currents. The flushing liquid is supplied at such a rate that it carries the solids out of the openings 7 and a weak stream flows inwards through the elements 17. The solids are able to pass outwards, without difficulty, through the elements 17 against the weak stream. Only one liquid separate is discharged from the opening 18 in this example, but in a modification an additional discharge channel is provided for a heavy liquid separate. This channel runs upwards from the space between the elements 17 and the openings 7.
