[Class 39 (iii).] The heating resistance 14 is secured to the insulating supporting blocks 3 by hooks 11 engaging the resistance and recesses 6 in the blocks so formed that displacement of a hook is only possible in a direction parallel to its axis, and displacement in this direction is prevented by an overhanging projection 10 of the next adjacent block. The blocks may constitute the floor, walls, or roof of the furnace or may be slotted for engagement with T-shaped crossbars of a metal frame so as to form a unit separate from the furnace.
