[Class 39 (iii)] [See also Group XXXVI] Apparatus for boiling, grilling, or the like, comprises a metal plate a with a continuous slot b extending over a large part of its area, a resistance c shaped similarly to the slot and arranged in or behind the latter, and a heat intercepting body g mounted behind the resistance. The slot may be of zig-zag form and the resistance may comprise a nickel-iron strip. The ends of the resistance are carried by insulated lugs d formed with terminal pieces e to which are connected leads m from a stepdown transformer. At intermediate points the resistance is attached to insulating supports f by resilient U-shaped metal pieces p welded to the strip. The heat intercepting body is a reflecting fire-clay slab attached to the plate by means of cross-bars h and bolts i.
