416,310. Indicating - apparatus. FLORISSON, C. L., 11, Rue de Cronstadt, Courbevoie, Seine, and SOC. DE CONDENSATION ET D'APPLICATIONS MECANIQUES, 42, Rue de Clichy, Paris, both in France. Dec. 5, 1932, No. 34469. Application for addition to 389,646, [Group XXXVIII]. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 6, 1933]. [Class 106 (iv).] In an oscillographic indicating device for use with echo-sounding apparatus on aircraft, the received sound actuates a microphone 65 connected to brushes 87, 88 bearing on discs 85, 86 in circuit with a galvanometer device 81 controlling a mirror 80. The discs 85, 86 and the device 81 are mounted on a shaft 84 rotating at constant speed. Light from a lamp 77 is directed by a prism 79 on to the mirror 80 and after reflection is passed through a prism 82 to a translucent screen 74 marked with a depth scale 75. The prism 82 is secured to the rotating shaft 84, this shaft also carrying a cam 13 which causes a sound to be emitted when the light spot 83 passes through the zero of the scale 75. The initial sound causes a peak 89 in the path of the light spot and the echo causes a second peak 90. The shape of the peaks is stated to give an indication of the nature of the ground beneath the craft. Specification 358,829 is referred to.
