Abstract
418,063. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, TURNER, H. C., and SHERWIN, A., c/o Salford Electrical Instruments, Ltd., Silk Street, Salford, Lancashire. March 7, 1933, No. 6920. [Class 38 (ii).] A transformer for use on different supply voltages comprises a primary winding in two sections 1, 2 associated with terminal plates 3, 4, 5, 10 so arranged that by insertion of interchangeable plugs the sections may be connected either in series or parallel. The section 2 has tap connections brought out to sockets 200 .... 250 lying beneath the terminal plate 10 so that when the series connection is established the total number of turns in circuit may be varied by selection of the hole into which the plug associated with the plate 10 is inserted. In a modification, Fig. 4, a tap connection 18 is made to the section 1 and the terminal connections are so arranged that the windings may be adapted for two different low voltage supplies in dependence upon whether or not the smaller part of the winding 1 is connected in series with greater part of that winding which is in parallel with the winding 2.
