Abstract
423,225. Thermal switches. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. July 13, 1934, No. 20604. Convention date, July 13, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] A thermal switch which may be heated by current passing through its thermal elements or by variations of surrounding temperature comprises two bimetallic or like elements 3, 4, carrying co-operating contacts 1, 2 on their free ends, both elements being thermally deformable in the same direction and subject to the same heating and the movement of one contact, being arrested by an adjustable stop 9 at a preselected temperature, the arrangement being such that pressure between the contacts is increased until the moment when the stop is encountered. In the form shown, with rise of temperature the contacts 1, 2 move upwards together till the strip 3 encounters the stop 9 and further movement of the strip 4 separates the contacts.
