[Class 99 (i)] [See also Groups XXII and XVIII] To strengthen the wall 3 of a boiler drum or other pressure vessel around an opening therein, a portion of the wall around the opening is replaced by an annular strengthening member 9 of greater thickness than the wall and secured by welding to the edge of the opening. A pipe connection 2 is welded in the centre of the annular member.
