Abstract
428,678. Metallic - vapour lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin) Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2787. Convention date, April 24,1934. [Class 39 (i)] A luminous electric discharge tube has a thermionic cathode, a rare gas filling and a box-like anode 3 pierced by one or more holes or slits 11 and containing a glass envelope 6 filled with a vaporisable metal, such as sodium, the said envelope 6 having a narrow outlet from which a capillary tube 9 extends into the interior of the envelope. The heating of the anode by the discharge produces a very uniform flow of metal vapour from the envelope 6, which replaces the metal lost by electrophoresis &c. The envelope 6 may be loose in the anode or fibrous packing material 12 may be provided.
