Abstract
476,767. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd., and WEIGHTMAN, J. S. July 30, 1936, No. 21053. [Class 106 (v)] In a measuring tap adapted to be connected to an inverted bottle 31 and comprising a measuring chamber 27 containing a tubular valve casing 5 with inlet and outlet ports 6 and 7, controlled by a slidable piston valve 16 adapted to be operated by the receptacle, the parts are so disposed with reference to the lowest position of the valve that the latter during its upward movement closes the inlet port before opening the outlet port. The measuring chamber is formed by the annular space between the valve casing 5 and a glass tube 26 both of which are clamped between end members 23 and 8. A cup 21 to receive the neck of an inverted bottle is formed on the upper member 23. Each port comprises two circumferential slots in the casing 5, one slot serving for the passage of liquid and the other for air. An operating rod 18 with a cross-bar 20 projects from the piston through the outlet opening 14 in the lower end member 8.
