499,723. Stuffing - box substitutes. MOULET & CIE, M. June 11, 1938, No. 17403. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1937. [Class 122 (v)] The rotary shaft 3 has two shoulders 10, 15 facing in opposite directions and pressed against seatings 11, 24 by the spring 12. The seating 24 is thus resiliently supported and is connected to a second washer 25 by a flexible bellows 26, and is prevented from rotating by a flat on the bushing 2. Oil supplied from the accumulator 7 acts oppositely on the two faces 10, 15 so that joint tightness does not vary with the oil pressure. In a modification, the lubricating oil is supplied from a built-in pump driven from the rotating shaft 3.
