Abstract

524,682. Reinforced-concrete walls. BONDY, O., and WHESSOE FOUNDRY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Dec. 6, 1938, No. 35490. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A closed reinforced concrete structure such as a storage tank or airraid shelter, comprises a plurality of metal plates 3 rigidly united at their edges to form a continuous shell, and integrally bonded with concrete on one side by means 10 provided on the face adjacent to the concrete the plate presenting a substantially flat face on the side remote from the concrete. The means 10 may be constituted by roughening the surface of the plate, welding ribs or projections to the plate or by ribbing the plate itself. A tank may be provided with a base covered by a plate 11 the edges of which are welded to the lining plate 3 of the'concrete sides. The structure may comprise inner and outer metal walls with concrete disposed between them.
