Abstract
526,972. Swash-plate mechanism. STINNES, H. H. March 28, 1939, No. 9620. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1938. [Class 80 (iii)] Relates to swashplate mechanism in which the transmission elements, e.g., swivel blocks 5, between the reciprocating pistons 6 and the studs 4 on the swashring 3 have lateral play in the piston crossheads. According to the invention, the clearances 8 at the ends of the swivel blocks when in mid-position, e.g., I or IV, are so dimensioned that the lateral motions each side of the piston axis amount to one quarter of those total lateral motions which, in the case of restilinear guidance of the ring, with a similar disc angle and ring diameter, would occur for a stud displaced 90 degrees from the guided stud. The lateral throw may be restricted by the walls of the cylinders, e.g., as at positions II and VI, or the swivel blocks may project through an aperture in the wall and abut a stationary structure outside, e.g., a rail or the cylinder casing. The ends of the blocks conform to the part with which they abut.
