Abstract
540,267. Visors. CUMMING, H. M. May 27, 1940, No. 9326. [Class 97 (i)] A visor comprises a metal sheet having eye and nose openings, backwardly extending members closely fitting and protecting the upper portions of the sides of the wearer's face, and means for attachment to the wearer's head; the side members may be hinged, and the visor may carry lenses in rubber frames and be hinged in the middle. As shown, a metal sheet 1 is bent to form side members 2, has a nose opening 3, oval or other eye openings which may be covered by discs 9 having crossed slits 8, an adjustable elastic band 5, and a sponge rubber layer 4. The discs 9 are adjustably secured by bolts 10 each passing through one of a number of holes 12a, and slits 13 may be provided for ventilation &c. and may be covered by gauze held by a spring. In a modification, housings formed in the sheets may carry detachable rubber frames in which correction lenses may be mounted with the aid of registering marks.
