Abstract
542,898. Inductances. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 7, 1941, No. 3107. Convention date, March 13, 1940. [Class 38 (ii)] ] A core for a toroidal coil structure is made by spirally winding magnetic strip material such as " Permalloy " 10, annealing to restore magnetic properties damaged by cold working, cutting through the convolutions to form an air gap 19, and relatively displacing the convolutions as indicated in Fig. 4 to adjust the effective width of the air gap. The core is secured by being pressed into annular recesses in a pair of insulating rings 21, 22 which carry spacing elements 23, 24 between which winding elements 30, 50 are arranged. Terminals 25, 26 are mounted on the elements 23, 24 which together with the rings 21, 22 may be moulded from material such as artificial resin, caesin plastic, cellulose plastic, glass, ceramics, wood or paper pulp.
