Abstract
616,641. Vehicle supports. BROWN TRACTORS, Ltd., D., and ASHFIELD, H. E. Sept. 16, 1946, No. 27662. [Class 79 (iii)] A vehicle support comprises a sprag member b pivoted to the frame c and connected to a lifting arm h adapted to be moved by power means on the vehicle, which can contact the ground in such a position relative to the centre of gravity i that on upward movement of the sprag one pair of wheels is raised, as shown, and the vehicle may be tilted on the sprag by manual effort to raise the other pair of wheels. The power-operated member h may be the lifting bar provided on some agricultural tractors for lifting an agricultural implement, and the connection between the bar hand sprag b may be a chain g which can be detached from the bar h and wrapped round the sprag member when not in use, the latter then being raised to lie underneath the frame c, to which it is secured by a bolt through a hole b<SP>2</SP> and an appropriate bracket on the frame. The preferred construction of sprag comprises a pair of arms b to which is pivoted a sole-plate a, the arms having a stiffening cross-member e and each being connected by a chain g to a separate lever h.
