[Class 38 (iv)] Electrode structures formed of evenly-spaced wires of diameter not exceeding 2 mm. surround high voltage conductor ends, supporting insulators, or the edges of casings containing electrical apparatus, to prevent corona discharges. Fig. 1 shows a conductor end a protected by radially projecting wire rings c1-c5 carried by'a collar b attached to the conductor. The separate rings may be replaced by a single toroidal winding of wire. A length of conductor may be protected either by a series of axially-spaced devices of this form or by a plurality of straight wires grouped coaxially around the conductors.
