[Class 122(v)] A mechanical seal for making a fluidtight joint between revolving and stationary members comprises a coil spring e and a stationary seal ring f around the stationary member a, a rotary seal ring g located in the revolving member h and against which the stationary seal ring f is pressed by the spring e, the latter being an interference fit at one end upon a part b of, or secured to, the stationary member and at the other end upon a part of the stationary seal ring f.
