690,661. Automatic feed weighers. CARLSEN, H. W. May 7, 1951 [May 10, 1950]. No. 10734/51. Class 143. [Also in Group XXX]. In a portable automatic feed weigher in which cement is fed from a hopper 1 to a weighing receptacle 16 along a screw conveyer 5, a swivel coupling 9 allows the conveyer to be swung manually in a horizontal plane. During transit of the apparatus a link 23 is coupled to a lug 24 on the conveyer, a valve 25 at the base of the hopper is closed, and the coupling 9 is broken so allowing the conveyer to occupy an upright position adjacent the hopper. Each weighing scale is initiated by manual operation of a switch 22 which causes the motor to drive the conveyer until a predetermined weight of material has accumulated in the receptacle, after which the beam 10 tilts and operates a switch 21 which de-energizes the motor. The receptacle is mounted on the beam for universal movement by a swivel 13 and trunnions 15; discharge being effected by manual operation of a wheel 17. A part cylindrical plate 18 shrouds the top of the receptacle during weighing. In a modification (not shown) the conveyer is urged into a pre-set position against a buffer by a counterweighted cable.
