Abstract
697,147. Saw-tooth generating circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 25, 1951 [Oct. 28, 1950], No. 24951/51. Class 40 (vi). The invention relates to saw-tooth generators of the type in which a capacitor 2 is charged through a resistor 4 and discharged rapidly through a valve having its screen and control grids coupled to a circuit to cause it to oscillate continuously and so to render the valve conducting for a short portion of the oscillation cycle. According to the invention a resistor 3 is included in series with the capacitor across the valve to produce a negative voltage pulse during the flyback and the circuit constants are such that the load lines intersect the steep portion of the anode current/anode voltage characteristics. The negative pulse does not then follow the sinusoidal shape of the grid voltage and is substantially rectangular. As the valve only conducts for a very short period the frequency of operation depends only on the tuned circuit and is very stable.
